I've attached a photo of the subject L-1 on the Paul Mantz flight line at the Orange County Airport (Santa Ana, CA) ca. 1958-59. I do recall driving past there at another point in time and noted it had the amphibian floats attached.

It was never a CAF bird. It belonged to the "Alamo Liaison Squadron" in San Antonio. When they got rid of it I had a chance to buy it. Being a dumb ass I passed! It was silver with a red cross, pre-war, war games markings.

The "Swing Wing" is most probably a camera platform.

This picture was with several boxes of documents and photos that came with the O-58A project. The 109th Observation Squadron flew them along with a couple of O-58s. They are a really big aircraft.
