Now if it had been a F-250....

...the result would be the same. They didn't call it the Grumman Iron Works for nothin'! Guess I'll have to change from using the phrase "Went through it like a hot knife through butter" to "Went through it like a Grumman through a Ford".

Not many people know this but when the F-150 was first introduced it was known as the P-150.

I wouldn't be so quick to call the Grumman the winner in this encounter, since the new prop and the engine overhaul will cost more than the whole F-150.
Personally, I wish it had run into one of those Grumman delivery trucks.

I'd have thought that was fairly clear, the CAF Hellcat hit a truck on the ramp.
I'd say he's asking a ligit question. Especially since now it sounds like two trucks may have been involved, which now doesn't seem as fairly clear to some of us. No harm in asking right? Or is it?

In all seriousness when its all said and done, and the CAF fixes her, she should have this next to the kill markings.
It's quite possible it may be the other way around depending on who came out worse. Which I would guess was not the Ford or other truck involved.
All of this. The thread was lacking on specifics early on - and my question has been further validated by a lack of specifics further on.
Will be interesting to see what actually occurred once all the dust settles. Shame about the Hellcat for sure.

Most mass produced trucks in history takes out one of the rarest fighters in history. How does that happen?

I actually saw something like this happen at NAS Brunswick, Maine probably early 1990s. One of those souped up T-6s was taxiing in after his display and ran into the courtesy convertible parked in his spot by some well meaning flunky. The pilot wasn't S turning because he was guiding his progress by sighting along the crowd line. I was several rows back and didn't realize anything was wrong until the hood of the car flew up in the air and the pilot through his helmet down in disgust.

Like a P-40 threw a Val.........................Styrofoam snow everywhere!
Wait that was different, it was the Air Boss's fault. (With a little help from the ramp rat!)

They were both ugly to start with and it didn't do either one of them any good.

I'm not sure what happened but it's clear that the "Jet Man" support truck was parked WAY out past the ramp and on the far edge of the taxi way. Yes, the Hellcat Pilot should have been S turning to clear his path and looking for the unexpected (especially at Reno) but the edge of the taxi way isn't the smartest place to park your support vehicle without at least a flagger there. My question is who was paying attention to race control? Anyone on the frequency?
The cost to fix the Hellcat would buy 4 of those trucks at least.

If there is anything that could be positive it's that the prop was still turning after the Hellcat hit the truck. At least from the photo sent to me this morning. (Sorry source doesn't want it posted) This would suggest to me that the damage to the Hellcat quite possibly may not be as bad as if the prop stopped abruptly on impact. Not for me to know though as I'm no real expert there. I can say the truck took quite a hit though. Sad indeed and hopefully not as bad as it could have been.

From what I understand and looking at the big slug of photos I was sent.
The F6F hit the fire truck first and then the truck and trailer. There also was
a pole with a orange wind sock next to the truck!
