There's a pretty ragged HU-16 sitting on an isolated ramp at the extreme south end of the Florence, SC, airport.

In the North, an airplane either earns it's keep to the last can of beans or it goes away. the airplanes are very very tired with every last minute wrung out, perhaps enough bits could be stuck together to make one flyable airframe. EVRTTS is converting to surplus C-9B's ex Navy as avgas is getting really hard to find and very expensive the further North you go, plus surplus commuter turboprops and older, smaller real jets (DC-9/737 3&400 's) are covering the drier climes and owners are looking to recoup some money so the freight now goes via ATR, Dash8, Banderante, etc. all ex 'Big Tree Arlines' defunct feeder lines returns and retired from the 'bigs'.

What a shame... This Mig-15UTI was put together by my stepdad and painted in Ocala, FL back in 1994... First few flights were done by the late Jimmy Rossi for the owner who I believe lived in the Boston area and was one of many he had imported from Poland which also included some -17's, -21's and also TS-11 Iskra's... The owner - who I believe his name was Don Giaquinto (something like that) and he had a pilot that had actually flown Mig-29/31's in the Romanian AF come down and fly it up to Boston area... I went with dad during winter of 1996 or 1997 to do an annual on it... Owner was kind of an odd person and from what I can find most all the a/c he had are now rotting away at various airports from Florida up to the northeast coast...
