Wright R-2600's taken from a couple B-25s.
It was a standard mod done to most PB2Y-4s used in Fire Bombing.

This "second" registration occurred when Ron Sathre registered his ownership of the wreckage. It is not a second aircraft. Dave Trojan's assessment of why the wreckage has not been recovered is correct (thanks, Dave).

Also, the PB4Y-2's data plate was located on the instrument panel, pilot's side, to the right of the control column and directly above the pilot's knee. (See "Convair PB4Y-2/P4Y-2 Privateer" -- No. 93 in the Naval Fighters Series -- by Veronico and Ginter). There are photos on pages 44 and 45.

Those are Wright R-2600s in a B-25 QEC package, not R-2800s.

The usual R-2600 B-25 QECs, just like all the other surviving Privateers. I talked to the Yankee Air Museum guys last week. They said they have the cowls and such to make theeirs stock, but ate having trouble finding a set of "junk" R-1830s. Anything that's got even the tiniest bit of life left gets rebuilt.
