This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I bet the bucking bar is still in the outboard left wing.

Congrats Conrad, it sure is going to look nice next to your WIldcat.

I can scarcely think of a better home for it, considering the incredible effort Conrad poured into his FM-2. And I expect he may unleash his talents upon his new baby once she arrives, bringing her back to 1944 stock condition to match the Wildcat... which would be AMAZING.
Congratulations Conrad, I look forward to seeing what you do with her!

This news of a new Texas based owner for this Hellcat is ironic as I was just getting ready to post a photo thread called "Hellcat pilots of the Lone Star State" focusing on F6F schemes of VF pilots from the empire of Texas.
FWIW my offer was $100.00 short. Shoot! Maybe next time

I got word from San Antonio, that indeed it's Rod Lewis & it's going to Ezell's Brand New Beautiful BIG Shop in Breckenridge Tx. So Mr. Lewis will be 1 of 2(?, Bob Pond ?) Warbird owner/s to own the 4 Prop Cats of WWII! Much like The "Zoo", & Lone Star did at one time.
Sorry Conrad

We'll keep are eyes opened!

Two Hellcats in TX now, amazing! Ok Rod and Lone Star needs to fly together at WOH!

Actually three Hellcats for Texas, as there is also the Friedkin's/Comanche Fighters' example (which I believe has been at Ezell's) .

So, as far as I know, that'll make it AT Least 5 Hellkitties (Collings, Allied Fighters, Lewis, Weeks, & Yanks ? ) under restoration. Unless maybe a Sponsor can be found & start on the POF's !

It would be great if Mr. Lewis picked up an F9F too.

I don't believe this one will be receiving any restoration work when it arrives (though I guess you couldn't rule-out a repaint), as it already has been an active flyer and has gotten a great deal of attention/work done to it over the last couple years at least, to get it flying again just this past spring, for what was then the first time it had flown in five years (ever since the TFC fleet had been grounded, and each aircraft had to be re-certified). The aircraft even received some cosmetic attention this past summer, in which its rear/aft of cockpit windows were installed again, a detail which had always been missing in the restoration prior to this past year. It will likely be flying as soon as it is certified to do so in the US. I was thinking Rod Lewis would be the potential buyer, as he also was the one who purchased the former TFC P-39 several years back.

Lewis becoming the new owner of this Hellcat is actually not really new news.
