Good day!

I'll be glad to double ck my AAF S/ns for you on this particular aircraft. I was told by another P-63 buff that somewhere in the ferry flights the ID plates were removed. (2 of them).

Some 2 weeeeks ago there was a pic here in Wix in the former USSR of an abandoned P-63A & other MIG 21 fuselages in what it looks to be an abandoned USSR Museum or scrapyard. I'll dig for it & will post in the near future. Yess It was odd pic & place but the some samples still out there!!!

Additionally, c. 2004 SOF Mag published a pic of a recently found Cuban markings B-26 Invader on the E. Coast of Nicaragua S. of Pto Cabezas still withy the crew in it. Some others are in SEA Cambodia & Laos area.

Zorro, this P-39 was not lost on a ferry flight. The story of the aircraft is well known:

The P-63 'scrapyard' aircraft is privately owned and is not abandoned. All the jets were donated by the Russian AF-they had previously been on display as the Khodynka Collection, but had to be moved because of residential development on that historic site. There are plans for a flying museum where they are all currently stored.

Good day!

Rg! on your P-39 find in Siberia. Tks for the info & data.

p.s We're now following the Bell P-63A Thread that shows the P-63 still in AAF markings in this May 2015!! We would be interested to know its whereabouts. That's 1 of many that were exported to the former USSR c. WW II!
