Thanks Dave & Chris, yes the way to the city will be a " Forgotten Heroes " idea that these brave men of the Greatest Generation Carried the Memory of the Alamo into combat, and now are mainly honored only in a model kit ! The idea towards the NMUSAF will be the same along with the idea of "Bring Them In" ( in this case, from Storms, Hail, Cold & good old Texas size Heat!). Anthony is spreading the word slowly for volunteers, as inspired by " The City of Savannah " B-17. Maybe we'll see some plan a visit to S.A & stop by to help. I recall someone in WIX did their Glass nose cone ! Kinda strange that we're waiting for the model it to be finish (to show the Warbird impaired what a Classic B-17 looks like !) we're prepared to bring up The Memphis Belle Movie as people will say "Oh Yeah ! I Saw THAT Movie !". Maybe if The Liberty Belle people are still flying "THE MOVIE " M.B and stop by S.A again, we can schedule a City Council & Media Visit to see how it will look in person. Or Close Too ! Lots of "Idea" Work ahead !
P.S Anyone know someone at the Austin State Capital who might know a connection to etc...That Would Help!

O.k, Anthony told me today, he had spoken to his friend " Howard", who was instrumental in retro restoring the main "Taj Mahal" building at Randolph AFB, and Howard mentioned, "What if Lackland wanted a Replacement B-17 ?
I think Anthony came up with the right choice ! B-17G, 44-85738 ! "Preston's Pride" ! The one over at Tulare Cal. The one damaged by that truck hit ! We think it would be Safer at Lackland, And it has a chin turret, whereas 44-83512, "Heavens Above", LOOKS (as mentioned before) more like an "F" currently, without it's chin turret !
Just a good Back Up Plan !

Let me get this straight... the Lackland bird is going to be restored and Preston's Pride will be moved to lackland to take its place outdoors ? Is this actually happening or is it at the planning stages ?

Hey GP, Well, the main IDEA is to Try to get the Lackland B-17 to become Fort Alamo II first ( Indoors) IF there would be a situation where the LackLand people would want a replacement B-17, besides coming up with a Fiberglass Mock up ( Where to get one ? ) the only other IDEA would be to see if Preston's Pride would be Safer IN Lackland. Right now this is all in the infantile stages ( a gleam in the eye for now  ). So you can say we're being kinda paranoid Climbing this mountain ! :D pop2
