Thank you so much for your words! If you want to know the whole story get the book Mighty by Sacrifice by Jim Nolan. It describes the loss of the whole 20th sqdn of the 2nd BG step by step. Highly recommended.
Here are the pics from the last year's commemoration, a 75th anniversary. I'm happy that we made it last year. This year it would have to be cancelled because of COVID-19...

One more link - showing the nonsenseless of the war. In 2007 we were able to get two ex enemies together. They both participated in the battle in which the S/N 42-38096 went down. American waist gunner Joe bailed out from his burning B-17G, S/N 42-97159 and spent the rest of the war in a POW camp while the German pilot Willi crashed landed with his Bf109G-6/AS and joined his unit again.
63 year later they met each other and drunk beer at the one table. One of the most emotional moments for me in my research.
