Ryan........ Is this true on the 38? I will have to call on one of my snitches within.... This would be major, major news...... But, the ONE that I am waiting on, is that other BEAUTY!.... The A-20...... RR has stated before, that when another A-20 gets airborne (on its own), they will bring the Havoc out from the sideline to the flightline....... Of, course, she will have to have some work done, junking all of that air conditioning stuff that she currently has....etc.... new hoses, prop OH, et al... Probably would take about 1-2 years to get her ready... Can't wait! Also, check out the update posted by LSFM's website on the Huri and PB4Y-2.

Alan, I wouldn't have posted about the '38 if it hadn't been seen. She is in the maintenance line overthere with cowlings off and in the photos I saw, a fuel cell removed. My friend then went by a few days later and she was outside and they turned both motors over. Didn't run them, just spun the props. I don't know anything else. He hasn't had a chance to drive by lately.

I want to see a Lightning fly again so I'm really hoping for this one.

Well about the P-38...yes they are getting it running again. As far as the purpose....most of us are in the dark! Its not really a public thing at this point. We ran in a few years back when we were filming an episode of Heavy Metal for the History Channel. For those of you that saw it...I was the guy storming into the tent chewing out Charles Lindbergh...hehehe

The Spit is having to have the fuel tanks rebuilt.

And as far as the A-20 goes...I was the Plane Captain on it for a few years...Ive never heard anything about it flying again if another A-20 gets airborne. Im not saying that it couldnt happen, Ive just never heard of it. I do know that several of the pilots would love to crank her back up! When I was young, I use to watch Max Gardner fly the CAF's A-20. I remember one year he forgot that he loaded his lawn chairs in the bomb bay. Once he took off fot the Sunday show, he came around for his bomb run....LAWN CHAIRS AWAY!!!! Sadly enough, I was there for his last airshow.

Hey Elroy, great news on the P-38. Ronnie Gardner flew that airplane beautifully. I could always tell when Ronnie was flying the airplane. The only other guy that I have personally seen fly a 38 with such style and grace was Lefty.... sorry guys, have not seen Steve Hinton fly the -38....... it's on my wish list..... About the A-20 when Max was flying down at Harlingen.. I was on duty in our production van, monitoring Air Boss freq, plus our other audio and video feeds to our master tape. I was completely stunned about the loss..... One channel of audio was strictly for Air Boss. I believe we have all of that still stored.... I know Ronnie was the last guy to fly the A-20...when he delivered it to the museum... He said it flew great.... Saw him in Oct at Airsho' at Midland..... along with RR, myself, and fighter jock wannabe.... my good friend and Ronnie's nephew... Chuck Gardner..... Ronnie said he'd like to fly the A-20 again... and with a really big grin... I really want to get into the Bearcat! Alan

I can't find the LSFM Hurricane on the U.S. Civil Register yet but I'm assuming that it's going to be registered as N96RW since the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame has that number reserved as of January of 2006?
