Yes, the XP-79B had a fatal crash on its first and only flight. Think the Natter and a few others had a fatal first flight.

The photos really show some of the details I had never appreciated, especially the "scoops" on the wing tips for latteral control. Interesting.

Pilot Crosby lost control while attempting a barrel roll at a slow speed.
