There’s a really nice one in France too, repainted into USAAF markings a few years back.

Yeah so the last flight was after Oshkosh 98, whenever they fixed the engine. It may not have been till 99 it was flown back. Don’t know.

I’m really lucky to have been around Chino in the early 90s when this was going back together.

I took this photo of it in April 1997 on a visit to Chino on way back to UK from attending the Golden Anniversary Airshow at Nellis.

Still have a slight hope I can get a photo of it in the air someday. Maybe right after I get a Typhoon or a Tempest :D

I expect you'll see at least two of each fly before we see a Marauder in the sky again!

Well, there's "seeing" and then there's watching a video here. How many people alive have heard a Sabre engine at take off power, first hand? I do hope to number among them some day.

Never noticed this before, but what's with the bomb-bay like doors just aft of the real bomb bay with the small windows in them? They are apparently hydraulically opened and closed but were these used in flight as well or are they for crew access only?

It was parked outside in 2002 and the paint had started to fade already:

B26's had an aft bomb bay in addition to the main one, the doors were on separate controls so you don't always see the aft doors open with the mains.

Thanks! Never knew that. I have since found this view of the NMUSAF's B-26 where you can look around: http://www.nmusafvirtualtour.com/cockpi ... II-13.html
And this image:

From that first 360 degree image it didn't look like a bomb bay to me but I guess it was used differently in various subtypes.

Isn't there a B26 project in SoCal that was being restored to flight using some of the unused Million Dollar valley parts? I know it was a LONG way from being finished, but I seem to remember a thread on here about it a few years ago.

That would be Pat Rodgers' B-26, 40-1370, which also has parts from 40-1381. Don't know if the plan is to get it flying or static, but the forward fuselage has been coming along nicely, and Pat has helped me a ton with photos of it. In either case, it will be nice to see another B-26-MA around.
