For an interesting possible Alaskan survivor, check out page 15 of Osprey's B-24 Liberator Units of the Pacific War - B-24D 41-23908. Is this the Alaskan survivor everyone talks about?

Is the Liberator that was flattened out and really the only viable assembly was the wing structure? If this is indeed the same aircraft, I thought there were issues concerning it's recovery due to it being on protected lands.

Andy and Shay - As I understand it, the one recovered for the Hill restoration was the Lib on Great Sitkin. The more restorable one on protected land is still on Atka. And an intact Lib is supposed to be on another island, maybe Aziak or Llak.

Another B-24 sub-type was recovered from Alaska some time back, a civilianized LB-30, that had been in really pretty good condition. It is now some place in Colorado, stored outside, and looking pretty sorry for itself. A really sad state of affairs. Does anyone have any current pictures/status of this aircraft?
