Its a standard Royal Navy scheme of the period. You can read the serial if the a/c is coming towards you or going away from you.

Hi Gary,a great looking Fury.Great to see the CAF flying Pommie aircraft as well as their own,did you have some time to spare with all thats happening with Fifi so you could work on WJ288?Just wondering why the 3 1/2 year wait on the engine,is it unique or was funding an issue.Best Regards,Pete

Well, as far as "spare time" is concerned, I don't really have much of that. I did the engine install on the Sea Fury because I love that airplane and have spent many, many hours working on it in the past, plus I wanted to make sure it got back in the air in time for the CAF Airshow. I took the engine off in May 2003 and I was going to make dang sure I was the one to put it back on.

The 3 1/2 year thing is a touchy subject. Sometimes engine overhaul shops have some troubles getting an engine out in a short period of time. This is one of those cases. The engine I put on is not the one I took off, as it is still not quite finished. The Sea Fury Sponsor Group for the CAF raised the funds to get an overhauled engine from another shop that had one ready.

Great shots Gary, I'll look for you on Sunday...

It was owned by Steve Bolander and Jim Michaels for some time. Think one of the pair had a heart attack or something. Plane was sold to a guy named Eric Woelbing of Wisconsin. Don't know any more than that!
