Thanks so much, guys! Beautiful shots all, and duly filed away. Without the historians and photographers to help me out, I'm stuck paintin' flowers or something.

I'll be doing a small (4.5 x 6 inches) oil sketch tomorrow to 'validate' my rough sketches and studies. If it comes out OK, I'll post it here before too long - if not, I'll delete this post.

After that, it's the slow work of doing a complete outline of both planes ready for transfer to the larger pencil and oil studies, then the final canvas. Tedious, but it beats working for the man - done enough of that for one lifetime! :)

Very nice pictures!
Could we see more "recent" ones, of a couple of F4U-5s, please?

Cheers,

Amado

There is just something about Corsair that defines Marine Corp aviation even into todays times. Just nothing but the true definition of a "kick butt" airplane.

Just did this little guy today ... not the oil sketch I was going to do this size, but I still had a couple of "issues" I needed to resolve via pencil study. Next up is a larger, more refined pencil study - after I finish the detailed outlines for both planes.

Study for "VF-17 Corsairs" (working title)
4.5 x 6 inches
Pencil on 100 lb. Bristol

The final canvas will be 24 x 32.

Nice study sketch...I wish I could do that good. You may make inspire me rethink and begin sketching once again...Hope you work out the details and go to oils soon....All the best, Tom
