Mystery question of the week. Something seems to be missing on the engine here?? What could it be? No pony, but you might get some dual on the Duck Drivin Lady's broom. BTW, rumor has it that the PLBA may take flight on Wednesday if Ma Nature cooperates. New engine has been installed, aux backup engine removed and the annual inspection completed so there will be a genuwine O-2 NKP vet out there on the airshow circuit soon armed with all sorts of insults and rude gestures. Be careful confronting her as she is considered armed and dangerous. Will turn you into a toad in a NY minute. Bet you didn't know that about her! Ribet Ribet :-) JR

I don't know how they did it, but the "Sparkies" talked Too Tall Tim into removing the leading edge covers so they could chase down some wires. He is the only one that doesn't need a ladder. While he had them off, he cleaned up and prepped them for re-installation. Looking good now! :-) JR

Last but not least... another toast to Big Mike for getting the right wheel well painted even though it took nearly all night to get it done. He is a very dedicated member of the team and even brings ice tea, sweet and unsweet, to the guys for our team lunches. A big attaboy is well deserved. We count on Big Mike for a lot! What else could you expect from an Aggie! Gig em!!

Me? Nervous? Not a chance. The deal was, and still is, that if you manage to shoot a wild hog using the B-26K's nose-mounted .50s while in flight, and then butcher and barbecue said hog, ol' Dino will buy the beer. Simple, right? :lol: :twisted:

Well, what if we just scare em to death with a low pass?? I don't see why that wouldn't count?? A dead pig is a BBQ'd pig and we wouldn't have to pick the lead out. So back to you.. in your court now. :-) JR

Well, looks like a name change coming for "Special K". Maybe, "The Baconator", "Hog Wild", "Makin' Bacon",...............the possibilites are endless!!!!!!!

Well, gee, Randy, I don't know about changing the name although your suggestions do sound good??? Might get too much criticism from the animal rights folks. If you read the article the Duck Drivin Lady posted, they want the wild pigs treated humanely before being killed. They should be trapped and not shot. Does it make any difference since they end up being BBQ anyway?? Is this something like military intelligence... one of those whatyacallits, an oxymoron??? Well, anyway, rumor has it that there may be the patter of little Duck Feet soon. The PLBA has been fueled and the threat has been made that there may be some acts of aviation committed tomorrow that will defy the law of gravity. Whoopitaw! :-) JR

Welllll..... Special K is also a "casual" term for Ketamine, which is a tranquilizer and anesthetic that was first used in veterinary medicine, soooo....putting the piggies down with an overdose of Special K sounds downright humane to me.
It's what I'd put in the grant proposal at least.

Hmmmm... good points. Also this is one of the reasons we started adding Kay to Special K so there would not be any reference to any veterinary supplies. :-) But now back to the grant writing. We would love to hear any ideas you might have!!! JR

So how do you keep the real JR busy when he is not organizing the rest of the team's work or pounding on the airplane himself? You give him a box of hydraulic hardware and give him a bin full of drawers, a puter and some stickers for labeling drawers so he can produce an inventory of the good stuff and where it is. What a concept!!! Sure helps when he can identify what each thingee is and sort it out. Good thing, too, because we are expecting another load of parts from California on Friday!! Nothing like having a few spares to help spell relief! :-) Attaboys to the real JR from the other JR. (yeah, I know this is confusing, but it helps deflect any slings and arrows that might be thrown this way by the Duck Drivin Lady if we keep her guessing about who said what!) :-)

The 609th Special Ops Squadron, aka, the Nimrods, has been busy recruiting it looks like. Amazing how much younger the troops look nowadays. I remember when I thought a Master Sgt was indeed an old man... well, guess they were when I was a mere lad of 21, but I digress. Hawkeye has commemorated the 609th SOS on his "Deuce". You can see it and many other military vehicles, re-enactors and vendors at our big Militaria Show set for May 18-19 at the VFM hangar, Meacham Field, in Ft Worth. This is the same airfield that the AOPA will be using for their annual convention in OCT. Anyway, put that weekend on your calendar! There will be a lot to see and do at the Militaria show. Vendors may contact Dana to reserve a table inside the hangar or a 10 x 10 ft area outside. Contact info is on our website: http://www.gga1.org

Hmmmmm, nobody guessed at the missing piece on the engine on an earlier page?? Maybe there were too many things missing?? Anyway, that big rectangular looking orifice with the screen over it is the big clue you are looking for.... the pressure carburetor goes there. If you don't know what a pressure carb is, maybe you should consider coming to our B-25 ground school. Response has been good and the three classes we had scheduled are starting to fill up. We may add another one on June 15 if the demand continues. Contact Dana to sign up on our website. The patter of little Duck Feet was heard over several North Texas aerodromes late yesterday. The PLBA flew well and new engine really performed well and seems to be broken in. The pilot flew well enough and safely enough to get the BFR done; however, after 14 or so months needs to knock some rust off. :D :D :P :P
