I am terribly saddened to hear about the loss of the Tante Ju pilot. He flew a wonderful display at the Flying Proms back in June, as the opener to the event flying to the "Where Eagles Dare" theme.

The Museum's really been taking some hard knocks lately, and the loss of someone so talented and full of life is the cruelest blow of all. :(

Shocked and saddened to hear this news as well. Flying Proms was the first time I had ever seen that aircraft fly and it was so unique to watch. Our video is here, for those who care to see it:

Thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all at the museum.

What a fantastic aeroplane! It's like hearing three Wirraways in formation (same engines). :D
In actual fact, Bobby Gibbes pioneered the geared P&W R1340 installation, using former Wirraway engines, in the three (?) Ju52's he operated in PNG after WWII, with his airline Gibbes Sepik Airways.

Looks like someone forgot to secure the forward cabin door!

Yes, it has and leaves tomorrow for Texas. Do not know who bought it, only which state it is going to.

Not sure who told a poster here about the SNJs. They haven't sold (sold meaning money has exchanged hands).

I now see the MAM's Wildcat listed on Platinum Fighters.

One aircraft also caught my attention, not related to the MAM/Fighter Factory was Jim Beasley's Spitfire (w/Griffon powerplant). I've never seen this particular aircraft fly, I hope she stays stateside...

It has been listed for sale for at least the past three years

Guess Rod Lewis bought the DH-89 and now is in SA, wonder if he plans to buy more for his collection.

If it sells, it won't be going back to the UK. The CAA over there had some (totally bogus) issues with licensing it.

Well, one particular member of the CAA did, bless her. :axe:

There isn't any reason why it couldn't go back. :spit
The issues Miss Jane had aren't specific to this A/C and nothing some counseling wouldn't help. Well, IMHO that is.

There was a little bit more to the story than one person in the CAA taking an exception to an aircraft!

Well, with 4 posts on the subject you've peaked our interest. What's the backstory? (Something to do with guns?)

More like one person in the CAA taking an exception to a collection of aircraft!
