Either "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" or "Snuggle Bunny", both from the 20th Ftr Grp.

I'd have to go with a 334th or 336th FS scheme. Yes, the 4th FG aircraft have been VERY WELL represented on warbird Mustangs, but ya gotta go with what ya know!

P-51D....John England's "MISSOURI ARMADA" or "BIG DICK"

"My Achin! (@$$)" 531st FS, 21st FG Iwo Jima. Flown by Maj. Harry Crim. Honestly, there's something about this plane, including which you can't see in this model picture, a pinup on the gear door. that would be my absolute dream to see this paint scheme on a mustang, 1:1 scale!

My dad flew B, C, & D's with the 363 Fighter Group, 381st Fighter Squadron of the 9th Air Force with the markings B3 E, so I would have to go with that. If for some reason that I didn't go that way I would research the history of that aircraft & repaint it as it had flown in prior years during its military duty. :?

I've always admired "Worry Bird", the P-51D done up in 339th FG colours; it's a simple yet attractive scheme and it also carries the national colours of my beloved Canada. But I'd want to add my own noseart name:
Image

A "Whiskey Jack", or "Canada Gray Jay", is a tough little bird from the Canadian boreal forests. It literally nests in the snow in winter and will steal the food off of your fork given half a chance!

I also like the yellow-and-black checkered noses of the 353rd FG. If I had a '51 and did her up in a 353rd scheme, I'd call her "Trigger Happy!"

I like the Enchantress sheme posted earlier, I am going to show my buddy and Mustang owner that one. Right now we are going to put 464 as a PA ANG bird. Pretty palin markings just high polish.

It would have to be Lou IV/Athlene of the 361st FG - not many early model P-51D's about - painted correctly in OD - with Athlene on the starboard side as it should be.

Now if it was a P-51 B it would have to be Colonel Christian's Lou III of the 361st FG( although the a/c behind is attractive too)
