I would assume they'd just build new planes..hardly made sense to retrofit old aircraft when they were cranking out new ones in such numbers. The wings probably came from a "used" bird that was parted out.

If you look at the old wings just outboard of the engine the flaps area look to be about half the size of the new wings.
