Mike -- not a real good quality shot, but one you might like. Reno 99, Saturday -- Strega ahead of Dago Red.

And yes, I know that I still owe you some prints, after all these years...

The NORTH STAR blades that Ken has came from John Dilley. They raced on either LOU IV or CUTTERS CAPER at some time.

Ken's airplane came from Ritchie Rassmusson(sp?) in Canada. So did he get the prop from Dilley and install it on the airplane? When Dan Martin brought it home, that prop was on the airplane as it still is.

Here is a shot of Ridge Runner with the Aeroproducts prop from Sat at Minter field.

SparrowV12 wrote:Randy-- where did you get the info about the paddle prop on the Cavaliers? The paddle prop was just the next in production from the cuff prop. The cuffs where mainly installed to provide a higher ram air effect into the air inlet (smile) for the engine. They did however have a secondary effect of torsonial problems as Jimmy mentioned. I would believe that the paddles where on the Cavaliers more as they were the later props that the airplanes came out of production with. Towards the end of the war, the paddle was the prop that was in production.

Sorry if I made a muddy statement there...I wasn't saying that they used Aeroproducts props on the Cavaliers, I was saying why they did NOT use cuffed props. They DID use the Hamilton Standard 24D50 with 6547A-6 blades.

Got that info right from Bob and Ed Lindsay -- their father and his people believed the cuffed props were apparently a better prop from a performance standpoint, but the possibility of corrosion under the cuffs meant it was an increased maintenance item.
