Be Careful ! make sure that is in now way connected to the Navy ! They have are real protective of their Time Capsuls that are in the Bottom of the Great lakes ! Nice thought on the Willow Run Dream

This is completely out there but theoretically you could turn a Privateer into a B-24. Cut out the 7 foot section they added between the cockpit and the wing for the flight engineer. Cut the tail off and manufacture the twin tail. Add the turrets, bomb bay, oval engine cowlings, and everything else and you have your self a B-24. Not a original one of course, but close enough for me.

The Yankee Privateer IS getting new paint and starting down the road to restoration this coming spring. At the request of an anonymous sponsor, the paint will probably be overall Navy Sea Blue...markings have not been finalized.

At the present time, there are no plans to make this aircraft airworthy. It could be done, given enough time and money, but then you can make a data plate fly with enough time and money.

Thanks, Kos...that's good to hear. Don't get me wrong, the guys have done an incredible job turning a battered wreck back into an airplane. Personally, I'd love to see her in "three-tone" camo, but overall blue is fine, and easier to maintain.

The sponsor crewed in an overall blue aircraft back in the day, so.......

There is a B-24 in Lake Ontario. But it will need a wing section, as that was the only part of the aircraft that was recovered. I also bet it would need a lot of work to get it to look like a B-24 again, let alone in the air.

Great news that someone came forward with some $$ to paint up the YAM PB4Y. I think it will be cool to see at least 1 painted in overall Blue. Any leads, news, or plans to get the nose fitted with a turret?

There is a lead or two on the turret, but it would be premature to post anything...yet.

Yes, I took that from "Special D" a few years back on the way to an airshow in Mississippi.
