While I'm fairly new to this board I've been around airplanes for all of my 59 years and I have buried more friends and aquaintances than I care to remember.
The joy of flying or being around airplanes comes with inherant risks.
The loss of man and or machine is one of those risks and it's one that those who love the sky willingly take.
I spent 2 hours on the phone the other night with a retired airline captain going over the accident at OSH with him (his wife and daughter were there) and it wasn't until we watched the approach and accident on video did the cause become obvious.
My vote is to keep them and link them to a more secure location where they can be viewed if so desired.
Aircraft accidents are investigated to learn the cause or causes and to spread that knowledge to all those who are interested in the hope that that type of accident can be prevented from recurring. If the images are painful to some they are informative to others and while I feel for those directly involved, if the information that can be gained can help others from repeating the same mistake or show them what not to do then that information needs to be shared.
Furthermore, while the pictures were big news last week they have been largely forgotten by the mainstream media who are already posting pictures of the latest tragedy. By keeping this type of image directory or repository that information can be retrieved for review by those with an interest at some time in the future.
