What a horrible weekend! :( Godspeed to him and condolences to his family and friends.

Turns out one of the news copter guys was on a Hot Rod message board that I am on as well. Between the 3 crashes, I am a bit weirded out... :(

I've been wrapped up in flight training this past week, but couldn't help but see all of the bad news. Simply awful. Having seen and been on a crash scene before, this brings back some BAD memories. I sometimes get those memories just smelling the 100LL when we gas up the plane.
My thoughts and prayers for the families. 'Specially that little guy who will only know his dad from others who knew him. Also for the first responders. It's tough dealing with what those guys have to deal with. When something like this happens, it's something you NEVER forget. I know I won't. I guess what I'm taking away from this is that a bad day can get the best of pilots.
I appreciate and am grateful for the measured response that seems to have been taken by virtually everyone here on the WIX boards. It certainly gives all of us who are pilots second thought, and a sobering reminder of the complexities of what we do.

Blue Skies,
Ryan

This summer is turning into a mournful one...

My thoughts go to the family of course. We will remember you Jim...

I've been off line for several days and just found out about Jim LeRoy just now catching up on WIX news. A rude awakening to say the least. Several of you mentioned three crashes recently. One of the others was the Mustang student pilot who recently went down out west. Who was the third?
A sad summer indeed.

Never mind my previous closing question. I just found the unhappy answer.
I'm off line.

There was a memorial today at Dupage Airport for Jim. I did not attend due to work. The Lima Lima flight team did do a missing man formation over the airport during the memorial. A worthy tribute.

I work right next to the airport and saw them pass right over. Brings tears every time I see it.
