This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Nobody recognizes me if I don't have on an orange shirt....

On another note - My! What a shiny clean hangar floor Jim has... I'm impressed.

Thanks for taking the time to post the pics, Rich. What's up with all the motorcycles in the background of some of the pics? You guys have a motorcycle show room going on the side?

Did you get my PM?

Nothing beats vintage motocross except P-51 flying!

The Chester County Center for Warbird Operations, Ocean Shipping Terminal, Motion Picture Studios and Motocross Rally... (C.C.C.M.O.O.S.T.M.P.S.M.R.)

It sounds like Gary Austin has some competition for Austin Acres.

Fantastic work!

Brits

Fri Sep 21, 2007 12:40 pm

The Brits are easy to work with. Just promise them all the free booze and American steaks they can eat, mention a few Hooters girls and they'll work like crazy. Don't forget to throw in a ride for the guys who hven't been up also.

Ya, it's like Ozzie and Harriet here! Well Harriet isn't really here, nor is Ozzie.
But we do have Peter, Fred and Chris.
Were just having a ducky time arguing over whether its a split pin or a cotter pin. They do talk a bit funny but most of the time I can understand them.
Peter gave me a cool little Indian Head thing pin, well maybe its a badge. I guess I'm now part of the club!
Maybe I can get all of your help?
Is a cotter pin a cotter pin or is it a split pin? I don't want to start an International incident but I need to know this to keep peace in the hangar.
I now also have the FAA walking in to check things out. Our floor wasn't even clean. And they were asking for papers!
Oh I'll be glad when the madness is over!
Some pics from today, Fri. It will, er, WILL be ready to fly on Monday so stay tuned.

Feds

Fri Sep 21, 2007 6:01 pm

The Feds were probably sitting around their office on a Friday and somone said " Who would rather sit here and finish these reports, in triplicate or go over to the airport and look at P-51 s" ? Aviationm will really be in sad shapee when no one wants to go to the airport.

Overcomplicate!
The time consuming things are the small areas you have to cram your hands into to insert a bolt into a small hole while the sharp edges cut into you and the cotter pins slice your skin.
The 4 large bolts that hold the wing on are easy to do. Its the 100 other small items that are a killer.
More pics.

I wasn't being disrespectful, I understand the complexity. I was just trying to say that you don't really need a team of engineers and "supervisors" to work on these things.

I've got plenty of scars from putting my hands/ arms in small places surrounded by sharp edges, so I absolutely appreciate the hard work. I'd love to help someday!

Day-um, its a cotter pin! A split pin is a roll-pin.

Hope everything's tickety-poo over there!
