I fully expect some of the more militant posters to say the site was shut down by Bush&Blair, the CIA and MI5 in response to certain people knowing the "truth" about Iraq. :D

I'm a new member, here in part because of the increasing nuttiness, (virulent anti-Americanism) on the FlyPast board. Some folks can't let their politics go for a second.

John, I'd just ignore the Iraq thread if I was you. When the thread started I thought that the tone was insulting so I asked the originator (one of the site moderators) to either clean it up or delete it, I also sent a PM to the webmaster asking for the same. I got ignored by both of them.

I think it brings down the tone of the board and deters people from contributing, but if that's the way they want their little playground, then more people are going to have to complain before anything changes. I don't think that a moderator ranting calling people dozy cretins is a constructive way of carrying out a debate on a subject that's guaranteed to offend.

Just my 2 cents.

Rob

That Mod is on my ignore list and has been for quite a while. One of the things I like about this site is that Scott is happy to wade in and sort things out when they get heated. Key Pub would do well to note that.

On the other side of the coin is PPRuNe where it is over moderated and because the owner wants to make a Pension out of it they get really petty about posting links. Once a good site now going sour.

Here and Key (usually) get the balance just right. And at the end of the day its only the Internet, not the real world.

I've been amusing myself by trawling ebay and abebooks for aviation books during the downtime - it's been expensive.

And I don't want any more fighting between you and Andy over a certain title on eBay, Rob!

hi Feather #3

Yup

I certainly have spent the odd winters day freezing atop the odd Scottish castle staring out accross the heather (She was very nice who wouldn't stare at her)

I would rather freeze there cause at least you can go inside and warm up, it's a bit harder cooling down here - it is true the weather here is nicer but have you seen Scots women !!! WOW

Anyway I am lucky at present I get to visit there once a year lately so thats great and it is in my blood after all.

I still call Brisbane home but I am tempted .

Regards
John P

Fighting? I was daft enough to mention it to him and he leapt on it with the family silver. Bang goes the idea of getting a rare book for a song.
