As the late and Great John Belushi Siad Was it Over when the Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor ? Yes the News Folks Have never been on their Game when it comes to History of Avation I remember one at the Denton Air Show back in the 80's ask me. What type of Cargo plane FiFi was ? I very Cool and Calm Replied it was used to deliver one way Cargo to Japan Droppng its Cargo from sometimes well over 30000.00 Feet . He was writing this down ! I am about to Bust a Gasket I finally tell him that Fifi was the last of her kind and that Sister Planes Dropped the First Atomic Bombs that she is a B-29 and that Texas Raider and Diamond Lil are also Bombers. He Responce Are you Kidding me ? Sent me walking away .

DaveG wrote:I cringe whenever the word "experimental" is used, because it seems to imply that the plane shouldn't even be flying in the first place, or that it was being tested..."Experimental plane crashes." You've seen it. They wear lab coats when they fly those things, don't they?

I can just picture Beaker from the muppets, wearing a lab coat, and a leather flight cap and goggles,

It's good to read a quick moving, historically researched and highly technoid thread for a change.
Glen, did you get away from that reporter before you did serious harm to yourself trying not to collapse in histerics?
Recently a large Texas newspaper reported on Lone Star Flight Museum selling rides in their "...rare P-15" warplane. I made the suggestion that to humor them we clean out the south storage hangar and build one.
A year or two ago there was a thread about aggravating, stupid stuff that that the general public had done to warbirds. ( I quit reading it because it made me mad).
Why not start one about brilliant comments or questions like "how did you get that airplane here?"
Signing off in a good mood. Thanks for some good laughs gang!

ok, along that thread,
I friend of mine was crew on the MATS Connie. One time at a airshow someone did ask if they flew it in there, he said no, and pointed to the Pitot tubes and said they just let the air out, fold it up, put it in a truck and drive it to the next show, and those tubes were where they re inflated the plane.

I've told this before, but at the NMUSAF we had all of the signs out for the B-2 display, but it was still in the shop. A guy came along and asked me where the B-2 was, and I said it was still being fixed up in the restoration shop. He said"Well, it's brand new. What in the world did you have to do to it?" I said. "Well we had to take the Top Secret Hyper Jets out of it." The guy said. "I knew we had technology like that."
