Okay

Since we have many experts in the field of Aviation, and particularly Maintenance

..it looks bad but not as bad as my first impression. the time required is directly correlated to the cubic dollars available for the project.

Are you looking at the same pictures I am?
Question - does the Sea Fury have a 'factory break' like the T-28?

Looking at the pics, the pilot was lucky the plane did not tip over while sliding to a halt considering how ruff the terrain looks.
Glad he is about enjoying a steak.....

If it didn't, it does now, looks like it broke it's back behind the cockpit

I have seen lots worse resurected and the main and hard to get parts are pretty intact....its just a matter of money.

Actually, looking at the RGJ pictures, it looks a helluva lot better than it did from the first photo link.
Nothing a little duct tape won't fix.

Glad the pilot is ok. Here she is in much better (looking) days:

That was a fine looking plane in the before photo with the polished finish. It looks like that was a pretty hard impact, glad he's ok. He must have done a good job keeping control until touchdown. I wonder who the pilot was, about all we know about him, if it is a he, is that he is unhurt and not a vegetarian. Was it a practice lap when the problem arose? Addison might have been a worse place for that to happen, lot's of buildings around and little open space.

Bill, I know for a fact who the pilot was, I have a lot of time years ago flying with him. He is one of the best in my book. I promised I would not give his ID here, I guess he does not want a lot of folks calling etc... right now. As I understand it, he was on a maintenance test flight. I do not know any details, but once again it is my understanding, the engine quit on downwind to landing. He hit with the gear down, & its da-n fortunate it didn't get on its back. He's gonna be sore for awhile, but otherwise ok, as far as I know. 3350 Sea Fury won't glide worth a da-n. He done good for what he had to work with.
Regards
Robbie

Thanks to Stan Musik my only ride in a Sea Fury was in VX302. Hate to see her broken!

I don't know why it's so hush-hush on places like this whom the pilot is.

There is a production break in the tailcone just ahead of the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer, similar to the Spitfire.
