Haven't spoken to him in a while but Garry Cooper down in Australia owns a spit, but don't know if he is current.

Not for probably the last 15 years

The Spitfire, in process restoration, moved on a while ago to 'Oscar Duck'.

Not one for the list...yet.

I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't Tom Duffy flying his Spit last winter before it needed some mechanical attention?
Jerry

Yes, Tom Duffy and Terry Rush both rated to fly the Spitfire

Thanks for the info Bill.
Yesterday I was reading the new issue of "Business and Commercial Aviation" which had an article on wingtip design. There have been new elliptical wingtips designed for the Citation X , a Mach .91 intercontinental business jet. It mentions "for an example of the ideal wingshape and design refer to the "Spitfire." It did not mention the P-51!
It's a shame there aren't more dual control Spitfires flying. Briefly there were two, in the U.S. now there are none. I had hoped the Bartow Florida one would've stayed in the U.S. Another lost opportunity was the one that was built up at Chino and sold for around $750.K a few years ago. Seemed like a great price at the time.
If I ever get a chance to add a couple more fighter type ratings, my plan is to go to one of those "schools " for the Stearman, and the T-6. I have already done all that but in an unstructered environment. It would be interseting to find out all the stuff I don't know but should!

For what its worth, the Fighter Factory has at least a half dozen pilots qualified in both the Spit and Hurricane. All fly both types.

You are forgetting Bill G's Spitfire MK9-TE308. Even though it's not in flying condition right at the moment, it is still here- and hopefully flying again soon.
