I may have not seen this posted all ready. Does any one know if the P-38 being restored at West Pac Restorations is being restored to static or flying condition?
Also concerning this P-38 the other part of my question does anyone know who the owner is that this aircraft is beng restored for?

I'm not aware that WestPac has done a static display for many years.

Which one?

Which one - is West Pac restoring more than 1 P-38? I assumed there was only one- the one for Paul Allen's collection, which will be a flyer.

I have said it before, but knowing that there are 7 airworthy P-38s, with more on the way pleases me to no end! Now a gathering of P-38s and I would be set to go! :D

Just curious, does someone have a WWII picture of the "Thoughts of Midnite" P-38, the graphism of the pinup looks in fact very modern? In fact, too modern for a WWII design, but I may be wrong.

One would think you could get 4 to Chino pretty easily...

Skidoo
Jack Croul
GG
Thoughts of Midnite

Just saw both Skidoo and GG there at the same time a month ago. I didn't see Jack's, but I'd venture to guess it was there too

Is Lizzie V from the Museum of Flight airworthy? There is or was a Youtube clip of the War Eagles P-38 making a low pass over the camera.

Speaking of P-38s,can anybody tell if the engine on the photo is from that type of aircraft?

Thanks

looks like a multi-row radial to me, with twin turbo/superchargers...maybe a 3350 out of a B-29? Doesn't look like the Pacific to me, so maybe a Washington?

greg v.

That looks like a Pratt and Whitney R2800-32W to me, probably out of an F4U-5 Corsair. By the way, they are not turbos on the back of the engine, but two large superchargers. The -32W was one of the ultimate developments of the R2800, good for 2675hp.

Littel Designs out of Lancaster Ca by any chance? Some of his work looks like actual photos
