Cavalier Turbo-prop Mustang pics

IIRC, back around a similar timeframe as the Trubo III, there was a Mustang converted to a Dart in Australia. I don't think it was intended for a military application, it was done 'cause it could be done. It was a P-51D with a Dart & was similar in appearance to the Turbo III but had F-86, IIRC, drop tanks & no tip tanks. I think it was converted back to a Merlin years later. Not sure of its history otherwise.

Yep. It was RAAF s/n A68-187. Appropriately, it carried the civil registration VH-UFO. It never flew with the Dart engine. See link below for photo:

The aircraft later came to the USA and was converted back to a Merlin. Which Mustang was it? SU SU.

Found Linsay's Obituary.
Here is an interesting section:

An aviation enthusiast, Lindsay was an experienced pilot who was passionate about airplane design and experimental aircraft.

As president of the Cavalier Aircraft Corp. from 1956 to 1971, he was involved in modifying the P-51D Mustang fighter plane for use by the Air Force, foreign military clients and individuals.

He also designed, built and was the test pilot of the original prototype of the Enforcer, a close-support plane in combat operations. His prototype is housed at the Air Force's national museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

In addition to his son Bob, he is survived by two other sons, David G.B. and Ed; a daughter, Ann Curtis; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
