Great! Glad to see that something is finally happening with this Hudson!
That is indeed part of a Hudson cockpit that was lying beside the aircraft. The VMFA donated that to the museum wwwaaaaayyyyy back and it comes from the Brighton Ontario farm of George Ventress, just down the road from Trenton!
This aircraft was a lifeboat carrying Hudson (we have pics) and did not have any sub strikes to it's credit.
Look forward to seeing this aircraft again when next in the area!

George had an outhouse constructed from a Hudson nose section. It's possible that spare cockpit floor was removed from the same airframe.

Actually that outhouse was the tail-cone from a transport B-24 Liberator. George bought 4 of these at $40 apiece!

There is an intact Hudson in eastern Canada. In 1967 a local airline pilot flew Kenting's former Hudson BW769 into Gander and it was put on a "pole" as the Atlantic Ferry Command Memorial. It is inside now. I took this photo in May 1972 when I was an air controller in Gander. It was painted then in the colors of the first Hudson to fly the Atlantic, piloted by Bennett in 1940.

Glad to hear that this Hudson had been taken off the "pole" and brought in from the cold, google found this picture of it before it went indoors.

I wonder if these two Hudson wrecks in Canada are still there, and might yield the rear fuselage/tail section, and nose for the Trenton rebuild?

The museum lists it as being RCAF FK466 - but this id was never assigned by the RCAF.

It is FK466 and was indeed assigned to the RCAF, diverted from the RAF for use at 31 OTU Debert, NS. I am told that one page of the record card has FH466, while the second page has the correct FK466. ASR Conversion was done at 21 RD in 1944. It later served with No. 1 (Composite) Detachment later redesignated No. 1 (Composite) Squadron.

That outhouse I thought might have been a Ventura nose but it was actually the tail cone from one of the transport Liberators George had bought at $40 each!

Must have made for a very warm & ripe outhouse in the summer!

Too bad about that Super Ventura. At least it's going to something worthwhile, I guess.

Are they trying to actually make this one fly or is it just for a static display? Some of these parts look very familiar after I have spent the past few days cutting up engine nacelles off of a Lodestar. I just listed an NOS tail wheel bulkhead on Ebay too.

Which Super Ventura in the photos is this? I'd like to update our records!

Looking good! I'll have to make a trip up that way to see for myself. :D

It'll be for static display. Nothing flies at the museum (although the Chipmunk looks as though it wouldn't take much work to get it airworthy)
