The Fort in question is SB-17G 44-85505 which crashed in September 1951.

Looking at it, I can't imagine that much is useful for a rebuild.

But the guys in Urbana are talented, so if anyone can make lemonaid from this, it's them.

What you don't see inside is a complete undamaged tail wheel assembly retraction unit. And a very slightly damaged vertical stabilizer. Autopilot rudder and elevator servo unit, elevator and rudder trim units, horizontal stab attachment brackets and tubes and the list goes on and on.

I thought Y-M-C-A first as well, but quickly realized that was not it. Could not figured it out and see that I never would have! I like it though!

I remember an old Bugs Bunny cartoon when I was a kid, where Bugs asked Elmer Fudd (I think) what is different about Ohio.......it's HI in the middle and Round at both ends.....O....HI......O!


Sigh....anyway...is that the first time somebody mentioned Bugs Bunny on WIX?

I love this B-17 recovery.
