Micro Update - Chris seen here after he finished up the paint stripping; the door was washed and rinsed with water. In the photo he can be seen blowing the water out of the seams with compressed air, the next step is the priming.

Using MECHANIX porous gloves and no respirator with stripper????? Remember your skin IS porous and stuff you get ON your skin goes THROUGH your skin and winds up in your kidneys and liver, check the next time you're in the car parts store and see if they stock human filters in your model and make, then ask your Doctor what he would charge you to do an oil and filter change on you.
I hate to keep harping on this but I used to teach PPE and about jump over the desk when I see someone doing really dumb things to themselves.

Stripping was finished at this point, he was blowing down the door after washing and flushing the 40 gallons (8 - 5 gallon buckets) of water used to flush the skins down. No one was harmed in the stripping of this door :) Everyone has proper safety equipment available and it is used.

Didn't mean to cast doubts, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one who read the caption accompanying the pictures that said 'back to the stripper' and figured Chris was using some sort of chemical stripper without proper protection. Always better to raise the flag and be sure than to let someone just barge ahead and 'I didn't know' won't get it as an excuse for chemical burns or worse. And I've seen people ignore a pile of PPE because 'it's too restricting' or 'it's too hard to put all that stuff on'.

Touchy subject with me

Due to the nature of the salt air we cant keep bare untreated metal for very long so Chris started priming the door with an aluminum primer.

It has taken awhile to get back to this project. Here is a quick photo update. Our detail guy Bob Bracci is also a champion model builder and currently have his 4x4 model of Pearl Harbor on Display at PAM in Pearl Harbor. If you have not seen it , check it out.
