We believe the Mossie has a committment at the Smithsonian but perhaps someone from MAM could confirm that detail.

Maybe it is flying to Washington Dulles in Northern Virginia for some kind of event at the Udvar-Hazy?

If that is the case, be careful......most historic airplanes that fly in there are on final flights and end up in the Museum on permanent display........

Really looking forward to the show this year with all the Commonwealth aircraft, hopefully some fast solo passes from each aircraft can be integrated into the show to break up all the formation passes? *hint* *hint* Curious for other opinnions on this.

I agree it would be nice to know what the planned event is in DC for which the Mossie is leaving Hamilton on the 16th of June.

But the Hamilton show is a lot more than just the Mosquito. I would not go to Hamilton just to see the Mossie fly, but it is a highlight of a show that includes a lot of great flying warbirds. As one who loves vintage jets, I am hoping that the Vintage Wings of Canada Hawk One Sabre will be added to the flying lineup again this year and I am always hopeful that this may be the year that the Jet Aircraft Museum gets to fly a T-33 like the "Mako" at the show.

I agree, no matter what they are doing in DC it will be a distant second-best to Hamilton. The answer is interesting, though, because I've never known the Smithsonian/NASM to feature a flying warbird at an event. I wouldn't worry about NASM capturing this Mosquito though -- they could just pull their own out of storage.

I would probably do that also, except that I always do arrivals on Friday at Thunder. Should be a great weekend for warbirds!

I've got a question.
Have the organizers of this show ever tried, or considered, getting Seafire XV PR503 to attend Hamilton?
It was, after all, a part of the collection for decades.It probably owes its very existance to being rescued from the fire dump by Dennis Bradley and crew.
For that matter, has it been spotted anywhere besides at the marvelous debut at Oshkosh?

The Smithsonian holds a fly-in every year in June called 'Become A Pilot Day" and there have been warbirds at them all, F4U, P-40, T-38 etc plus modern military.

Really getting excited about this show. From various sources it looks like in addition to what has been announced in this thread and on the web site, the Military Aviation Museum's Fw-190, Vintage Wings of Canada's Corsair and Hawk One Sabre and the CF-18 demo will be at Hamilton June 15-16!

Can't wait to hear what else is in store for that weekend.

I wouldn't have called it "marvelous". Allegedly it flew in some time before the event, then flew out again several days after it finished. I'm sure that it really came in on the back of a truck, and was re-assembled on-site. :wink:

I do think it sad when 'star' items turn up for the trophy hunt only, and take no part in the flying.
