VFW Post 1008. On the fin it displays IL-NG, and below that 0-61130, with 130 on the nose.

Thanks, I do know that this bird was for years sitting a few miles down the road and it became highly dilapidated and vandalized, glad the VFW got a hold of it.
I'll be going out that way this summer, will post some pics when I do.

Looking forward to the update Xray. Perhaps you can persuade the Post to dedicate a page on their website with some ID and history of the Huey.

That doesn't make any sense, is it supposed to be 70-16130?.... but 1970 Huey 16*** serials started at 70-16200.. so that doesn't work.... Maybe 70-15130? (which was actually an OH-58 Kiowa)

How about a Construction #?

Maybe UH-1D 66-1130? Remember older aircraft got that "O-" or "0-" (I'm not opening that can of worms again) added to the tail number.
And before you ask, no, Baugher doesn't have any info for that s/n, but it looks like all of them were upgraded to UH-1H configuration.

Yup, I couldn't make any sense of it either. I was hoping one of the WIX bunch could come up with something. In lieu of that, I hoped Xray could find an ID for the Huey when he visits her later. Since it's the first thing you see as you're going to the Post, you'd think they would provide some sort of plaque for the bird.

Got invited to a beach party for a friends kid, beach was just a couple miles from where the Huey sits so I snapped some pics today.
SN on door appears to be 66-1130, would that # make sense ? It does look like an effort was made somewhere down the line to scrub this serial off the bird, is whited out compared to the rest of the stenciling, and cam didn't pick it up very well.

Our *stash* is quite impressive! We've got about fifty Huey projects right now.

Any chance of photos, details?

Here's a few of the Huey's NW Helicopters has in storage. I was able to get a tour thru their shop a few weeks ago. I have more and will post a NW Helicopters subject in a few days.

Any chance you got a pic of 68-16261/N443YB? That's a former 129AHC bird they apparently have

Unfortunately I only have a couple shots with SNs on them, yours is not one of them. I was able to see a Huey that was in the unit I was in (116th Assault Helicopter Co, Cu Chi) the same time I was there-I probably worked on it a time or two.
