I don't know the history of Yagen's G.59 either, but on the December 2012 page in the slide show for the G.55 Projekte shows it as they begin to open it up. MM5378, NC 185. Presumably it was a display at an air base or somesuch. Light Blue paint job paint-brushed on...probably a low rank's paint party to freshen up her appearance, large buzz number code-RM 41 on the side.

I don't do facebook, feel free to inquire to them. Thanks for your help James D!

Thanks to another thread, I learned there's another Allison-powered Ilyushin Il-2 nearing flight in Russia: https://uac.defence.ru/article/chtobi-p ... samoletov/

Not a warbird but a friend bought seldom flown Stearman Speedmail refurbished it to fix some issues and plans to fly it a great deal. In short, he's turned a hangar queen into something that many more people will see.

Also, though hardly famous, at any given time there is 1 or 2 Boeing Stearman 75s being restored here. Most are stock, but one will soon be finished which will have a fully cowled P&W 450, 4 ailerons, and raised turtledeck with a sliding canopy (it looks like a Grumman F3F) and removable front windscreen and cockpit cover. Like an identical aircraft here, it will be in a 1930s USN color scheme. Should make a nice pair.

While not as large as those you name...It is a multi-engine warbird:
A Grumman Goose is set to fly later this month. Ex-RAF, it will fly in USN three-tone camouflage.

The Ggose flew in April.
For some great photos and an article on its history, seebthebJuly Air Clasics.
A smaller piece with photos is in the July FlyPast.

It will also be in upcoming issues of Classic Wings and Aviation History.
