Airworthy T7 Gloster Meteor coming to the US

Didn't see anyone mention the Arado Ar 234, world first jet bomber and operational in WWII. Only 1 remaining though...

Perhaps the owner put it on the market fearing more CAA regulations following the Hunter crash at an air show which killed 11 people on the ground. The crash as grounded the Hunter (though the accident report pretty much clears the aircraft) and cast a pall over UK vintage jet ops.

The owners whole fleet has been up for sale for a while (IIRC before the Hunter crash) but since that accident and the cloud that hangs over any future UK vintage jet ops, meant that a UK buyer was unlikely to be found.

Sad that its leaving the UK, but glad it will remain airworthy.

As mentioned in an earlier post in the thread, F.8 'Winston' is still airworthy in Australia, plus the 2 x Classic Flight Meteors here in the UK (which includes this T.7 now on its way to the USA) and the two Meatboxes still operated by Martin-Baker for ejection seat testing.

77 Sqn operated T.7's at the time although as trainers. Now for a PofF Mig15/F-86/Meteor show...

To those of us who remember it when it was in RAF service, it will always be Winston no matter scheme you paint it over there
