I'm glad to hear it wasn't cancelled outright. Let's hope it will go off with a hitch now.

Things won't be back to anything like normal until an effective vaccine is widely available.

Or people take their eating habits, personal hygiene, and such seriously.

1.85 Billion people would love to take you up on your advice. Unfortunately they live in extreme poverty.

I would have to imagine that this will be cancelled...schedules will be altered and things and people won't attend.

I sure hope it still goes on in September.

I wouldn't bet on it. I think we'll be lucky if we're out of the woods next May, for them to do it 1 year late. If they can arouse the interest for VE-Day plus 76.

I saw CWH on Instagram already committed to sending the Lancaster even if it's in September, which is awesome - shout out to them. But next year is more realistic.

We are up against an enemy that, if left unchecked, is forecast to potentially kill more Americans than WWII, WWI, Vietnam, and the Civil War combined. So there is really another victory we must win before we can celebrate the 75-year-old ones.

August

I think the whole thing is a gross overreaction - but to your point, despite it probably only slightly more deadly than the flu, people will not stop panicking until there is a vaccine for it...which is probably a year away at this point.

I wonder how many of our veterans won't survive Covid-19... :(

Hi All - Any insight into the AOD activities coming up in September 2020?

I've been to the website and seen the coverage on warbirdnews.

Are they staging out of Culpepper and Manassas VA fields again?
While I imagine watching the flyover in DC is very cool, from a photography POV I imagine the staging fields are easier for shooting opportunities.
Any tips from insider or AOD vets?

Thanks!
VB

I think this thread needs to get more political.
Come on, who's with me?

Let's turn a warbird flight into hand wringing (rightfully concerned, but a bit a bit too maudlin, perhaps?) over a virus.

If you want to express concern, rant, vent, worry, please do so in the appropriate forums.

I'm not denying the virus is a threat, but I know of more vets who have died of lung cancer, so while some vets will succumb to the virus, go to a VA hospital and get a more complete picture of their health issues.
In my county the AVERAGE age of covid deaths is 81.

We're WWII buffs, remember our history, despite dire events at the beginning of the war, Churchill and FDR told people not to panic, give into pessimism and keep things in perspective.

The aircraft list has been updated. As expected there are a lot of cancellations, but it's still a very good line-up.

Politics?!? wtf cavity did you pull that out of?

You've got one guy stating we're up against an enemy that, if left unchecked can very well kill you and another guy who thinks COVID is a gross overreaction.
Believe what you want about COVID. It's your funeral, but if you need additional motivation to help you believe it's not a hoax or a simple flu there's currently close to a million families world wide that I'm sure would enlighten you on just how much COVID is not a hoax or a simple flu.

Politics in this country will get you killed, period!!
Science is your best option for staying alive if you're willing to use some common sense and heed the advice.

The idea that this very real pandemic may or may not cancel another event couldn't be more relevant to this thread.

I think you might be feeding a troll here, Mark. John obviously WANTS to talk about covid and politics, otherwise he wouldn't be the first to raise the subject in 4 months.

Will this be the last event like this over DC, in terms of a mass flyover of this magnitude?

CAF Redtail Mustang showed up at Culpeper today. I understand that the Minot bunch are not coming.
