I'd paint it what ever color the next owner wanted it to be, then sell it as soon as possible. Then I would go buy a TBM, DC-3, and get our Harpoon flying.

I just saw an illustration from a diecast plane with an OD B model with a blue nose in the background. I think the main plane was Preddy's D. But it occured to me that I don't think I've ever seen a full Blue Nose in OD. Anyone have any pics or was it artistic license?

Definately in the colors of this particlular aircraft:

I can think of other nice paint schemes as well, but this one probably means the most to me.

Ryan:
Interesting & rare choice.
Those Iwo Jima Mustang groups had some of the toughest single pilot missions in WW2. Some missions were 7+ hours long; pilots would need to be lifted from their cockpits upon return to base. Weather forcasts were poor in that part of the Pacific; one mission lost 40+ aircraft solely from flying into a weather front enroute to Japan.
What color tail band do you favor? Blue-Green or Yellow?
Thx,
VL

Green with Black edges on the stripes. That's 45th FS markings, and an aircraft that I'm almost (but not quite) obsessed with.

Not artistic license, I've seen a few blue nosers with full OD.

Too many great paint schemes to choose from. 8) I would lean toward Happy Jacks Go Buggy... but really want to pick something different... something that has never been on a Warbird Mustang. TEX-ANG would be fitting... or maybe a FF-### scheme. TOO MANY CHOICES! :D

Just added a gallery of my Mustang pics to my Picasa account. These are just a few from my collection. Some older ones from the 80's up to this year.
