It has been released that once the Memphis Belle is complete, Shoo Shoo Baby will be shipped to the Udvar Hazy Facility.

Great pics!!. Does that make 5 B-17's in the state of Ohio?

-Urbana B-17
-Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby
-Memphis Belle
-Swoose
-41-9032

What is MB's projected completion date? Sad to see SSSB head to Udvar Hazy just from the Point of view that I thought this move might force the NASM to apply attention to 44-83814. Don't see why they need or would want 2 G models. Perhaps 44-83814 will be released from captivity and reenter circulation.

Thanks for all the photos and updates, mustangdriver! This is just how I hoped things would end up.

A question (and if this is too sensitive to answer now, I understand): Will the Museum be looking into recovering any pieces such as the ventral "bathtub" or the bomb bay from the Tells Peak B-17C or the B-17C/Fortress 1 crash site in Norway for patterns?

P.S. This is more OT but did you ever find out whether the Museum had the remains of two Keystone LB-1s as a starting point for a restoration?

Great pic of the Belle and the Swoose in the hangar together. I'll bet the two of them will have an awful lot to talk about.

Great pics! Thanks for posting guys. I'm glad that at long last she'll be getting some well-deserved attention.

How did Swoose end up with a black underside? Even the pics I've seen of her Stateside immediately postwar she was OD/Gray. As much as I'm a fan of preserving originality, I think Swoose will defintately have to be taken down to bare metal..what paint is left is in pretty gnarly shape.

It'll be a little sad to see SSSB leave Dayton, but despite all the rocks being hurled back and forth over the hedge, I think U-H will give her a good home. Now if they could just give Flak Bait some attention...

Ironic that this gentlemen just finished a model of the Swoose in OD

Great model, but shouldn't the rudder markings be "19B", not "11B" as the Swoose was part of the 19th BG?

And once again, there's a bunch of black grime coming out of the wing vents..

and once again.................all those negative vibes, man!! Be happy, its gonna be ok!

Sorry...just one of my modeling pet peeves. 8) Other than the "exhaust stains" it's a well-done model. Those Academy early B-17s are actually quite nice. I've got a B-17C I plan to do as an RAF Fortress I, with the Dark Earth/Dark Green camo, and PRU Blue underside and tail.

I like how you used slightly different olive drab for the fabric-covered control surfaces. Very nice!
