I got a pm and was told this thread was not directed towards me. Sorry about that. But there has been some comments in past threads/shots at warbird buffs. I will not waste my time trying to find them. Me and and another wixer just feel there is some negativity toward non pilots around here.

Are you misinterpreting that for the "negative attitudes and thread-bashing"?

I thought it was directed towards the thread I started about disliking colors. Some took that thread as people bashing warbird owners and that really was not the case. I am sorry to those that took it that way.

O.K., thanks for the information Nathan. FWIW, I do enjoy your postings and what you have to contribute here. I'm sorry that you and another wixer feel some negativity toward non-pilots here. Some of our best posters here are non-pilots, so that comment doesn't make any sense to me.

BTW, I agree with what Lynn said. I don't say that to be mean, but you just need to not be so sensitive to "spurious" remarks from people. I think you give some WIX members' comments far too much credibility. With as much as time as you spend on here (rightly so), you know about most of the member's and their backgrounds and credentials. If some m0r0n nobody bashes your thread or topic, then who cares! Don't let it affect you personally, as their opinion is not worth squat! If the comment comes from a well known warbird pilot or operator, then they are just a world-class A-hole! Guess what, not every warbird owner and operator is well liked within their community. Some are AWESOME and some are jerks - just like real life! Just because somebody has money or resources doesn't make them more important or valuable on this forum. Their character, integrity, personality and social skills (how they treat others) are what I use to judge people by. If someone is a jerk on this forum, then they are probably that way in real life.

The very founder of this site - Scott Rose - is a non-pilot. Do you really think he would want this forum to be only for pilot's or owners? I really don't think so.

Just remember the quote often attributed to Abraham Lincoln:

"You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time." That's true on this forum as well. Not everybody here is going to like 100% of what you say. That's okay and it's not a bad thing. That's human nature. The sooner you realize that, the quicker you will alleviate your fear, disappointment and angst from posting on WIX.

So, Nathan, go out and post to your heart's content on anything warbird related you want here!

Yes, when a publisher continues to accept funds for a magazine that he knows is going down the tube it is deceipt. I got "screwed" a little, you sir got "screwed" alot. Perhaps true, but my point is there is nothing good that can come from dwelling about the past, especially since there is nothing one can do about it. Besides that Mr. Coggan has passed away, so we probably will never know the truth about what happened in the final days of WW.

Might be interesting to know how many of those homeless refugees like me from the old Warbirds Worldwide forum still post here. It seems such a long time ago now that Scott was good enough to provide us a home which ultimately grew into the WIX it is today.

Membership of forums ebbs and flows, people's involvement ebbs and flows. new people join and in joining may change the nature of the forum, meaning that existing members find that the forum no longer meets their own needs or aspirations.

In essence it's the cyber world reflecting the real world. It's just a fact of life and is probably not worth too much contemplative navel gazing. When individuals are ready or when the nature or specific focus of the forum changes again, as it inevitably will, , they'll come back if they want to.

Spot on Simon. I lament the loss of many of the Brit and European posters over the years since the 'WWW Refugee' forum all those years ago . Anyone heard from Indiana Tony recently?
However as you rightly point out, things change and often come full circle. One or two have tried to spoil things over the years - what their motive is I don't know and frankly I couldn't give a toss, as the good people who are the backbone of the place ( whether historians, pilots, restorers, model makers or enthusiasts ) will always triumph in the end-it is the diverse mix of people that keeps the place going, and provided the posting is on topic -interesting and informative. I certainly look forward to the day that some of the 'founders' of this great community return, however everyday I come here I learn something - and that is saying something, as I know everything already

Paul Coggan did alot of good for Warbirds we still use the Warbird directory and references

Featured aircraft restoration news, articles on flying preserved historical military aircraft, plus features on their use in the past. Regarded as the specialist magazine of the warbird community. 60-64 pages of glossy paper in each A4 size issue, with 16 pages of excellent colour photos. First issue published May 1987. Closed down in early 2000 after reaching Issue No. 52. The editor also published several editions of the authoritative Warbirds Directory, a worldwide survey of warbirds in book form.

WWW was a great publication, I would say the best around on the subject. I too had only resubscribed when it went bust and was disappointed and angry at the same time. Nevertheless I don't regret subscribing and often flick through them for both pleasure and reference. There are a few who post here who know the full story of its demise, however it is probably better to let sleeping dogs do what they do....
