Bruce (BK) and I stopped in at Mercer on the way back home from the Atlanta Warbird Weekend last week. The field is completely empty, or sure appeared to be. There might be a tire or something hidden in the tall grass, but there didn't appear to be any trace of any of the aircraft that had once been there.
The mysterious hangar, which many figured might be full of some treasure that was off-limits, was now wide open and in poor shape. We walked in and notice that it appeared to have been ransacked. There were record books and water-stained pictures and debris and detritus left over from a time when Something Happened at Mercer. Clearly a long time ago.

The ceiling had open holes in it.

We noticed some holes along the back wall where the outer skin of the hangar appeared to have been pulled back so people could crawl through into the hangar. The property is for sale, but I didn't think to get a picture of the sign.
We did find one plane in the hangar...

There were four or five of these there...
MAF = Mercer Air Field

We also visited the former Mercer-based F-84, now on display in Marietta near Atlanta.
