I work at a radar approach control in Texas and today a Beech 18 flew through our airspace, call sign “AMANDA1”. Amanda was going home. We had received a phone call about the flight and that the special call sign had been requested for the flight. While this was not an official call sign for the plane, we used it to honor her. We would call each facility that was going to work the flight and pass on the reason for the call sign. I cannot speak for the entire flight but I know that our facility used it and so did the next. I have to believe it was used the entire flight. I felt honored to have worked the flight.

According to the most recent post on the Caring Bridge website, Matt used "AMANDA 1" all the way back to Fayetteville Arkansas.

I've managed to hold back my tears...until now. That had to be the hardest flight Matt ever made. My heart and prayers go out to the family.

What he said, I can't even begin to imagine the pain of that flight.

Heartbreaking ...

Amanda we’ve shared our lives these so few years. You’ve held
My hand; you’ve held my heart. So many blessings, so
few tears – Yet for a moment, we must part. The
memories you’ve given me are times I’ve shared with
my best friend I’ll hold them, Love. Right here they’ll
be until your in my arms again.

Such a tragic loss

Kyles crash injuries were limited to facial cuts from hitting the panel and burns to his arms and hands as he tried to help Amanda. He showed pictures of his hands, which are healing well after grafts and are responding to physical therapy.

He updated daily with his treatment and Amanda's.
