This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Way back when I was "involved" in aviation we tried to kill Murphy and his law, remember,
Anything that can go Wrong, Will go Wrong at the worse possible moment. Thus - if in doubt RTFB

One last time I will try to convey what I was getting at.....................I would have expected both Houston and Arizona to call for a good inspection themselves. At this time there is no clear indication of what caused the LB catastophe, but a good inspection of the fuel system would be a prudent thought. If the Gulf Coast Wing and Arizona Wing wouldn't have called for this then shame on me. I have more faith in our Wings and Squadrons volunteers or not. Last rant, let it play itself out.

We (certainly I) get that Ober, and no-one's suggesting any lack of competence or dedication by the wings or volunteers.
Whether you or I like it or not, directive action has to be seen to be taken, publicly, by the CAF top level.
I don't see that as a problem, but a 'good thing' however much it may be technically unrequired, it is required for public confidence, and doing it hurts no one.
I don't turn wrenches, I do deal with communications, so maybe I understand or rate that aspect as it's my competence.

Not that my opinion has any bearing, of course. Any anyway, before I was married, I'd rather have turned wenches...

But if you were turning wenches, they'll all marry each other and you'd never have a shot.

Depends which way they needed turning.
But I think we're off topic and in danger of discord!

Wayne,
Maybe - just maybe, someone with information notified CAF HQ first as a means of quickly getting the word out if they have a suspect issue... or part, or whatever. I would not be surprised to hear this since I've now heard two different sources (one from a non-warbird pilot who observed the aircraft at the last stop and the other, involved with a serious warbird outfit) point to a similar item on the LB. It may be that something totally different happened when the NTSB report comes out, but one would think that it would be serious enough to check things out on other aircraft just in case.
