Saw him in person in Aspen at the Copper Kettle right after "Top Gun" came out. Thought he was a cool guy. Always felt indebted to him as he made a hit movie where military guys were cool again. It was hard to meet girls, because of military haircut, before that movie came out.
The only knock is that his airplane was not at the last Gathering of Mustangs,. A "real" P-51 enthusiast would have been there or at least had his airplane in attendance.
Arnold Palmer was there in his Citation X and several people wealthier and busier than Cruise were in attendance.

Simple fix for the nose art would be to change it to "Kiss Off Kate".

I agree it would have been nice, but there are probably factors we non-Mustang owning mortals can only guess at.
Perhaps his check pilot was busy...and perhaps there are insurance limitations about who flies it.
Or it could be money and time. Flying a Mustang cross country would not be cheap for an event he would probably not be at.

Last year I asked the Collings Foundation to bring their Stutz Bearcat to the Centennial Stutz event in Indianapolis at the Speedway. I figured any outfit that flies a B-17 and 24 around the country that taking a small car to Indy would be a piece of cake. Despite personal contact, they didn't come. Oh well.
My point is even good outfits can't attend everything, so don't be too hard on Cruise.

There may be the possibility that some Warbird owners have no, or little interest, in airshows, gatherings, etc. and that some would rather keep their toys to themselves and care not to share with anyone else.

This is probably the most logical explanation.

Ya' mean like what happened at Congressional last weekend after the storm? The hosts closed Saturday admittance to spectators and volunteers after the big blow, but the Tiger-zombies crawled over devastation, downed live power lines, and flora-geddon to almost singularly fill the gallery. The othe golfers were a hoot and made due as their own cheering section...certainly bemused but they didn't seem pissed. All was better for the finale Sunday.

As for the Cruise 'stang not attending...really? Some of ya'll gonna bust balls about the '51s absence?....reallly? Sometimes this place seems to get goofy...right-wing socialism...paint nazi's...some really strange morphitude... never a dull moment... pop2

Lol there's no such thing as right wing socialism. You just insulted 90% of this fourm and 50% of America by calling us members of an itialian dictator. Which were clearly not.

Anyways.....

I'm still stuck back at "Who gets Katie?" I think she should come with a Mustang since it's named after her.

I'd rather not start a new thread when there is already on going ...

Can anyone say how often Cruise flies his Mustang or how often the plane gets flown? MustangsMustangs says this bird started like as an F-6K. Would like to hear more about the airplane and less about the owner.

Ken

Head to the Reno Air Races this year and ask him. He is footing the bill to put Matt Jackson in Strega, so he is bound to be hanging out.
