Corsair ID? Mojave 1980

The Corsair and F7F that I worked on have 70 spline prop shafts, because I pulled those props a couple of times for the corrosion inspection.

Interesting to know.
I thought only a version of the 4360 on the sky master used the 70 spline.
All these years of Working on Rolls products has dimmed the radial memory banks. :drink3:

I'm interested to know what model or dash number R-2800 had a 70 spline prop shaft?
I've searched a little but haven't come up with anything.

That's exactly what I saw at Mojave. I remember the fence around it.

Tks!! We are getting somewhere. Nick "Wilson" also talks about another F4U at Mojave near Hwy 14 not at the airport. Maybe he will come back with more details about this finding.

The picture itself is not that clear to reveal the Buno. It looks like Buno 97349 fm this end. Maybe someone else may have a better resolution pic of it as shown. Love to know where the polka dots scheme was done or other close ups pics of the cabin. Pictures of aircraft as shown does not mean the real Buno of the aircraft.

During the 1970's 97349 was displayed on a pole at a motel in Tucson, AZ. Something like the Tucson Inn, or similar on Speedway. Long before she went to Mojave. Please excuse these poor quality shots, they were taken with a Kodak Instamatic and hey, I was a kid back then!

James: Were there any markings/Buno's discovered at Pima Air Museum during the sanding/painting removal process? Do you have any more pics of the restoration process to include the cockpit pics?? Tks

Good day fm this side of the pond!

Tks for the links & the info/data provided. It looks like the B/w is when "349" was just out of the paint shop c. 1970s. There seems to be some similarity between "349" & the F4U-4 "46" both at Mohave airport.

Still to find out fm nick "Wilson" about the other details/ poss pics of the F4U outside the Mohave airport c. 1980s.

Back to the original photo of the Mohave F4U Corsair.. does that exhaust cut out on the L/S seems a bit in an angle to you?? or is it just the angle of the picture c. 1980s??

We have a lot of photos of the reassembly of the plane but only one or two of it being painted. As far as I can tell from the photos they didn't strip the old paint. All they did was rough up the paint and spray over the top of what was there, no primer, no nothin. I don't have any photos of the cockpit.
