Soon to be one less it would seem...
Despite a lot of USAFE senior parties trying their best to prevent it happening, the ex-Bentwaters/Woodbridge (81TFW) and Alconbury (10TFW) A-10A 80-0219 currently on display as the centre of the memorial garden at Alconbury is apparently due to be scrapped on site shortly in advance of the base's closure in a few years.
This appears to be so as to comply with the regulations which say it can't be loaned to any non-government-funded museums in the UK (A number of UK museums would dearly love to have it but aren't allowed, and IWM Duxford already have one), and that it's considered uneconomical to ship it back to the USA.

Seriously guys, not a peep?
The base command staff has fought to prevent it being scrapped.
CinC USAFE has fought to prevent it being scrapped.
The Director of NMUSAF has fought to prevent it being scrapped.
At least one highly-respected UK museum (where this particular airframe was once based) is ready and willing to provide a safe and secure long-term home.
But somehow, they've all been told that it's against the rules so it's going to go through the shredder...
Surely something is wrong with this picture.
