The CFM announced this afternoon on Facebook that their Corsair has been repainted into the markings of the example flown by Marine Corps ace Lt. Col. Donald K. Yost, with VMF-351 from USS Cape Gloucester in the East China Sea, circa August 1945. The new paint was undertaken by Hangar360 Aircraft Services. I've always been quite fond of this particular paint scheme, seeing it done on a number of model kits and in flight sims, and it is great to finally see it now on the real deal. Photo is by Greg Morehead, as posted by CFM on Facebook.

Congrats to Mark Todd doing the honors here...

Cavanaugh have announced that they will be bringing their Corsair, Wildcat, Avenger, AD-5 Skyraider and T-28. With their paint schemes and new ground displays, the trio of Corsair, Wildcat and Avenger will be paying tribute to the history of escort carriers.

Anyone on the grounds with a report?

Looks like the day I had planned to go (Thursday) is going to be a washout. Wonder if they will fly the 262 a different day.

The weather guessers are saying a thunderstorm in the area Thursday, so maybe you'll stay dry...

Overall looks like one of the better warbird turnouts the past few years? Little bit of everything and then some. Thanks for the pics.

As much as I love the warbirds, I'm impressed by the blimp formation flyby. :)

It couldn't make it this year, but it's one to already look forward to seeing at Oshkosh next year. In-place of the Schroeder family's P-40K in this afternoon's Warbirds in Review, the Fagen Fighters' P-40K was featured instead, along with Ron Fagen and Brandon Deuel, and with Ray Fowler as moderator (who was excellent in that role - they should keep using him as a Warbirds in Review moderator). It was mentioned that Connie Bowlin asked Ron Fagen to bring the P-40 specially to the show this week because of the Schroeder P-40 not being able to make it this year.

Thank you, Dan, for sharing so many great photos you've taken so-far. The more, the better!

So many fantastic restorations there this year, but I'd have to say there's no beating that P-38 'Jandina III' - 100% authentic in every detail, and a restoration which took about 20 years to complete. It's really neat that they're displaying the stripped-out but original remaining section of the cockpit pod, and original section of the right boom, right next to the rebuilt aircraft.

The Me 262 made it in today, and is now parked on the paved section of Warbird Alley.
