What do you suppose these holes are for?

If it's
that critical, it must be the aft relief tube mount

Very close. If that's your number one guess what would be your
number two guess?

Great pix, thanks for posting!!!! Excellent work, everyone should be proud of the work they do on her. You have some pretty talented people adding their expertize to the effort.
I posted some pix from the day you started working on her at the strip and some pix with the turret installed to an aviation group I send out. Also posted the link to your daughters video....this is what I got back from one of the members. They all loved it!
"Excellent is a nice word; this was just perfect. Young lady doing the video work could teach everyone a thing or two. Could have been 1944; and the fact they were exercising the gun turret just added to the realism."
I really liked the part with the bridge in the background....so good!
And on the critical airframe component number two guess.....you make it pretty clear!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

Great photos. This one made me think of this image of a 459 Squadron RAAF Ventura Nav at work. Somewhere I got this goofy interest in Hudsons, Venturas and Harpoons. No clue where it originated!

Great to see the work space being filled out so well.
Image from a wonderful history of 459 Squadron RAAF called "Desert Scorpions" by Leon Kane-Maguire.

I unbolted the toilet paper holder from an R4D so it has Navy lineage. The bolt pattern was perfect but its a little more frilly than the one seen in other harpoon photos. It will do until I find a better one. Anyone have any WWII Navy issue toilet paper?

Awesome shot. Thanks for that. I have very few in action shots inside the Ventura and Harpoon. I would love to see how they were actually loaded up with gear. Most all of the shots I have are factory photos or from the tech manuals that are pretty sterile.
My Dad was a B-29 Navigator so I have a real soft spot for that particular crew position. I still need to pull out the other nav gear like the sextant, astro compass, dividers, HO series of nav tables, cases etc. I am looking for some correct pacific navigation charts too. All I have now are those Hawaii/Pearl Harbor charts on the table and an Esso "map of the war in the pacific".
I would like for my Dad, or any other navigator, to sit down and feel right at home. The same goes for all of the other crew positions.
Slow but steady...
