You are correct, it is by an acquaintance of mine, Pat Spiers, ...
He doesn't mean to deceive anybody, he's just having fun and I'm sure he would be amused at having his pics mistaken for real in this forum.

JDK wrote:What an awkward question. Do you need a complicated answer? The simple answer is Allied aircraft involved in the D-Day operations and area.
The invasion stripes were there to provide friendly ID to Allied forces of Allied aircraft. Those aircraft in theatre at the time were normally painted with them; as Chad says, the Hurricanes were mail carriers, but they were included in the requirement which had nothing to do with any role; just location of aircraft operations or bases.

(A good introduction, but the statement about the Dieppe raid is too vague for a complex and misunderstood marking.)
Some other aircraft wore combinations of white stripes, such as early Mustangs, Typhoons etc as recognition aids; they have nothing to do with the June 44 stripes.

Having a super slow day?
Nope, are you? .... kook!
I believe some Short Sterlings & Halifax's had invasion stripes.
Wow, five words and you're bent out of shape. That's just to easy. Sorry if I hurt your feelings or made you cry.

Never seen an FAA Corsair with them either. Martlets, Hellcats and Avengers, yes.
Many British types sidelined before 6/44 probably never wore them. Blenheim, Defiant, Skua, Roc, Whirlwind, Gladiator. Beaufort?
JDK is right, it's an easy question to answer if you simply state the criterion. But if this thread has any value beyond killing time, it can open some eyes as to the variety of types that participated.
