Ok, I'm biased. How about those poor PB4Y-1/2 guys with lone-plane mast-head attacks on Japanese shiiping and installations. I mean, 25-50 foot attacks in a Liberator or Privateer with the crew not carrying parachutes to save weight and allow for additional ordnance.

Just read this bit about "Red Tails" guess they are getting ready to go into production. Just what is

"We're working on techniques which will give us the first true look at the aerial dogfighting of the era"

I think the BoB film did well for back in the day (except for the fakey looking models on fire and exploding....Just what is it Lucas will be doing. I am curious, George!!

Gotta have some of these in it!!!

"Whip" would be good, used as a basis, I'm partial to "The Last Dogfight". Has a story for the crowd and lots of P-40 and P-38 action.
Caiden's books were a little melodramatic but I sure love 'em.
Len Deighton's "Bomber" would be GREAT! It has all the elements of story and combat.
The problem with a truly realistic movie is the balance of giving us geeks what we want and giving the moviegoer with no history or aviation interest what they want. As bad as it was, Pearl Harbor did that. As good as it was (IMHO) Tora,Tora,Tora did not.
As for remakes, I still like "30 seconds over Tokyo" and "Spirit of St. Louis" and hope nobady tries to ruin them with another Baldwin or Affleck movie...
